Colour-coded EBC Brake Pads - What do they Mean?

Colour-coded EBC Brake Pads - What do they Mean?

You must have noticed the various colours of EBC pads in the market. Ever wonder why there are so many colours of pads? Nope! They are not meant to match the colour of your car or designed for aesthetic purposes! Each colour serves to differentiate their performance and application.

The colour coding system used by EBC for their brake pads includes Yellow, Red, Green, Blue and Orange. Here’s a breakdown of what each colour signifies:

Greenstuff Brake Pads - Suitable for everyday street driving and light to moderate performance applications.

  • They offer a moderate increase in stopping power and improved brake pedal feel; improving the braking performance over stock pads.
  • Designed to minimise brake noise during operation. The pad material and formulation used in Greenstuff pads help reduce brake squealing or squeaking sounds, providing a quieter braking experience.

If you're looking for an upgrade over stock pads that provide improved performance, reduced dust, and noise, Greenstuff pads can be a good option.

Redstuff Brake Pads - The next grade up from Greenstuff in EBC's high performance road compound

  • Approximately 80% less dust is released by OEM pads when using EBC RedStuff ceramic pads
  • Redstuff brake pads not only provide excellent brake performance but also lessen rotor wear, extending the life of both the rotor and the pad.
  • Redstuff brake pads are NOT recommended for track use.

Upgrade to the YellowStuff or even BlueStuff series for the best lifetime in track use, but if quick street is all you require, EBC Redstuff pads is the pad to pick.

  • They offer excellent initial bite, high friction, and reliable braking performance over a wide temperature range.
  • Taking things up a notch from EBC’s Yellowstuff, Bluestuff has the additional benefit of a considerably quicker bed in time and a high friction coefficient without feeling grabby.

However, because it is a track-focused material, users can hear and/or notice an increase in brake noise and dust. An improvement in ultimate performance is frequently accompanied with an increase in noise and dust.
